DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products Launches Susterra® PDO Glycol Rebate Program

Wilmington, DE., June 05, 2013 – DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products announces a new cash rebate program for contractors or system designers who purchase glycol fluids made with Susterra®Propanediol (PDO). The “Switch to Susterra® PDO Glycol” rebate program began on June 1, 2013 and will end on Oct. 31, 2013.

The tiered cash rebate is available based on minimum purchase quantities of Susterra® PDO-based glycol fluids from our approved manufacturers including Interstate Chemical, Thermal Fluids, Douglas Products, Kost USA, Dynalene or Shamrock Chicago Corp. Complete details and the online or printed rebate forms for the program can be found at http://www.PDOGlycol.com.

Susterra® PDO-based glycol fluids offer commercial and residential HVAC equipment owners a high performing, biobased glycol which can improve energy efficiency (contributing to LEED points) and reduce maintenance costs.

Heat transfer fluids made with Susterra® PDO offer unique technical properties such as excellent thermal stability at high temperature for solar thermal or geothermal applications, and low viscosity at low temperature for cooling applications. Benefits of using Susterra® PDO heat transfer fluids include heating and cooling systems that last longer through improved corrosion resistance and improved energy efficiency.

“Susterra® is an alternative glycol often selected for its superior physical properties over traditional propylene glycol,” said Doug Hopek, market development manager for DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products. “Susterra® PDO Glycol can extend system life, increase operating range, and improve corrosion resistance. Industry professionals also prefer Susterra® PDO Glycol because it is a green, sustainable alternative.”

Susterra® is certified 100 percent biobased by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, making it attractive for companies seeking to add renewable content to their products. A peer reviewed life cycle assessment (LCA) demonstrates that the production of biobased PDO offers significant environmental benefits including up to 40 percent less greenhouse gas emissions and 40 percent less non-renewable energy used in production vs. petroleum-based glycols.
